T Cells

T cells play a role in the adaptive immune response. They originate in the bone marrow and mature in the thymus. T cell receptor (TCR) and CD3, a member of the TCR complex, are characteristic markers of T cells. T cells can be categorized into two predominant types by the expression of other surface molecules, CD4 (helper T cells) and CD8 (cytotoxic T cells).
